Without minimizing the devastation this virus is bringing (illness & deaths, economic impacts, vicarious suffering, etc), I see this time as a critical step in our human & planetary evolution. Many are saying the virus is our planet's way of 'fighting' humans and our toxic effects on the planet; I agree, but in less extreme words. I see the virus as an ecosystem's correction to instability, which will force us to recreate our species' systems to be more homeostatic w/ the rest of the ecosystem.
It will be a painful process, for sure, but in the end, will be invaluable to the continuation of our species.
For several years, Ken Wilber (creator of Integral Theory), has been talking about how close to 10% of the world's population is reaching the next stage of psychological development (2nd tier consciousness for any Integralists out there), which creates a tipping point: with that much of the population at that developmental stage, that stage's values will start to be infused in our world's systems.
Anyone who studies developmental psychology knows that crises (such as this virus) act as fulcrums to launch us to the next stage of development (breakdown > breakthrough). I believe this is the exact thing our species needs to launch us to our next stage of development, which will be an unprecedented shift because it's a whole different tier of consciousness.
So, if we see this as a fulcrum to launch us to the next developmental stage, how can we best utilize this?
To best guide our collective evolution, we can devote our time in quarantine to personal development. How do we best do that?
