Couples & Non-Monogamy
Monogamous, polyamorous, LGBTQ+, kink, etc. My door is open to any type of relationship.
For when partnerships become patternships:
Whether you’re monogamous, polyamorous, gay, straight, kinky, vanilla, whatever - we all know that feeling when our partnership has become more of a patternship - when we fall into unhealthy patterns of pushing each other’s buttons, trudging up old issues, and communicating in immature ways when we know better, but just can’t help ourselves. I can help you break free from these patterns, and return to the partnership you miss.
What is polyamory or consensual non-monogamy?
Consensual non-monogamy is an umbrella term for any relationship that includes more than two consenting romantic partners. Under this umbrella term, you’ll find a sometimes-confusing, and ever-evolving list of types of relationships, including hierarchical partnerships, swingers, monogamish, relationship anarchists, etc. Want to know more? Contact me, or read more here.
What if we’re new to consensual non-monogamy, or aren’t sure what we want?
Whether you’ve been in multiple or open relationships for years, are just starting to consider it, or are considering it as a last-ditch effort to save your relationship, I’m here to help you through it.
Why do you specialize in consensual non-monogamy?
I didn’t learn much about non-monogamy in my MFT coursework; but, since graduating, I’ve spent countless hours studying non-traditional family and relationship structures including polyamory, platonic co-parenting, and more. It’s become a major focus of my practice because — even in the Bay Area — it’s a rare specialization among therapists. I’m a big advocate of organizations like the Modern Family Institute whose vision is to create a world where everyone has access to a community of care across their lifespan by ensuring that families are defined by their function, not their form. I believe in normalizing non-traditional relationship structures, and empowering people to live their truest selves.
I’ve taught classes to MFT students to expand awareness and validation of this alternative relationship type, I write for the online publication, The New Modality, and have been featured in a podcast to spread the word to other MFTs.
